Why is it that when man has sinned they cannot save themselves?
The man God created was very good (Gen 1:31) – in His own image. God gave man a holy life and also free will and free choice, allowing him be responsible for his own deeds. Man is not like a machine. He has conscience and knows what to obey and what to resist. God respects the human free will; he does not oppress, but shows what is good (Mic 6:8) that man may willingly obey him and follow him.
Therefore God gave clear instructions of what may be done and what must not be done (Gen 2:16-17). God wanted man to do what He allowed him to do and showed man the consequence of disobeying him. But man did what he should not do. The result is that man has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (Rom 3:23).
Man has sinned, but can they save themselves?
Unfortunately no. For they have been sold as slaves to sin (Rom 7:14). The whole world is under the reign of the evil one. “No man can redeem the life of another” (Ps 49:7).
Fortunately, God is merciful to the people of the world and does not want to see anyone perish. “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire. He set my feet on a rock.” (Ps 40:2)
To be saved, we need to acknowledge that we are sinners (Lk 5:8); have a sinful nature that needs to be renewed (Eph 4:22-24); are spiritually dead (Lk 9:60; Eph 2:5); needs to be reconciled to God (Rom 5:10; 8:7; Col 1:21). In doing so, God will grant us the following through Jesus Christ:
- Forgiveness: “I [i.e. Jesus] now send you [i.e. Paul], to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me” (Acts 26:17-18).
- Reconciliation: “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom 5:1).
- Renewal: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Cor 5:17).
- Life: “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name” (Jn 20:31).
Man has sinned but is there chance for salvation?
God loves the world and saves the world; Do you know why must he send Jesus to the world? This is because man has sinned and need salvation.
Men are separated from God because of sin. Therefore, Jesus must come as a mediator (1 Tim 2:5; 1 Jn 2:1) so that man may be reconciled to God (Rom 5:10) and lead us to God (1 Pet 3:18) so that we may be God’s children (Mal 3:18).
Jesus is God; Do you know why He came on earth as a man?
God wanted to reveal himself in flesh and therefore dwelt in flesh among us. “No one has ever seen God, but God the one and only, who is at the Father’s side, has made Him known” (Jn 1:18).
Jesus Christ came to the world to save sinners and reveal God’s love (1 Tim 1:5; 1 Jn 4:9-10) that men may be saved by believing in Him (Acts 16:30-31).
Though man has sinned, it is still not too late to receive redemption. God has prepared the way of salvation so that we can be redeemed from the bondage of sin.
