Question: Why is our church named “True Jesus Church?”

Posted by tjcsg on September 26, 2011

Why is our church named “True Jesus Church?”

A name reflects the nature and its significance. The name “True Jesus Church” may seem unconvincing and cause misunderstanding. Despite appearing being prejudiced, further explanation will show that this name is indeed biblical.

The following is an explanation:

1. “True” refers to God, for God is the truth. “The man who has accepted it has certified that God is truthful.” (Jn 3:33) Jesus came into the world to testify that God is truthful. He said, “I did not come on my own. He who sent me is true. You do not know Him. But I know Him, because He sent me.” Jesus referred to God as “true,” meaning that God is not without His being. From Him and through Him and to Him are all things (Rom 11:36). Moreover, the fact that He came in flesh further testifies that He is true. “We may know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true.” (1 Jn 5:20) Revelation 3:14 says, “…the amen, the faithful and true witness.” In Revelation 3:7 it is said, “…holy and true.” Romans 3:4 says, “Let God be true, and every man a liar.” Isaiah 16:16 says, “Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth.” John 17:3 says, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” All the above references indicate that God is true as diametrically opposed to falsehood which is from Satan. The word “true” refers to God. The most concrete manifestation of His truthfulness is in Jesus.

2. The word “true” is above the word “Jesus.” Jesus said, “The one who sent me is true.” This exemplifies relationship of Christ with God. Jesus, being in the very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. He humbled Himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross! (Phil 2:6-8) “The head of Christ is God.” (1 Cor 11:3) “And Christ is of God” (1 Cor 3:23) Christ came to do God’s will (Heb 10:7). The word true implies that God is above and greater than all things (Jn 10:29; 1 Cor 15:28), who is over all (Eph 4:6). Why do we use the word true without adding to it “God?” “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.” (Col 2:9) Only through His only son, is the trueness of God shown physically (Jn 1:18). Man was created by God, not as a result of evolution. God made man in His image (Gen 1:26). Man was blessed by God and had the wisdom to tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea (Jas 3:7). Therefore man calls himself “the spirit of all creatures.”

3. Christ is the mediator between God and the church (1 Tim 2:5; 1 Jn 2:1). Through Him the church is reconciled to God (Rom 5:11). God reconciles us through Him (Col 1:22). Jesus’ position as the mediator is particularly important. Through Him, God’s trueness is witnessed (Jn 3:33), for on Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval (Jn 6:27). The church was called by God in Jesus (Rom 8:29), through whom the church receives God’s abundance.

4. Since God is true, Jesus, whom He sent, must also be true. So Jesus said, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.” (Jn 15:1) Jesus is the true light, truth (Jn 14:16; 18:37), true food (Jn 6:32), true witness (Jn 8:14), and true life (1 Tim 6:19; Col 3:14). These are blessings that He has brought to the world from His true Father. Jesus has triumphed over the false world by God’s trueness, with which He has filled our empty hearts, so that we may lie in the one who is true, i.e. in His Son Jesus Christ. In other words, living in Jesus means remaining in the truth – the way to eternal life. John 3:15 says, “…that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life.” Knowing the truth and returning to the truth is the way to eternal life.

5. Jesus calls Himself the true vine, making a distinction between Him and the untrue. Since falsehood exists in the world, it is necessary to distinguish between the true and the false. Asserting oneself as being true has important implications. In the Old Testament, when false gods were prevalent, God revealed Himself as the true God (Jer 10:10; Isa 65:16). During the fraudulent era of the Jewish religion, Jesus revealed Himself as the truth. In today’s world falsehood is prevalent with many false christs and many preaching “another Jesus.” It is more necessary than ever before to uphold the truth of God.

6. “Church” originally meant, “a gathering called out of the world,” which includes all the believers Jesus has chosen out of the world (Jn 15:19). With His blood, He purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation (Rev 5:9). With such an intimate relationship with Jesus, the church should uphold His name. The name of the church – the bride of the Lamb – should be inseparable from the name of Jesus. For there is no other name given under heaven by which men can be saved. Christ is not a name – it means the anointed king. The name Jesus was given by God (Mt 1:21; Jn 17:11-12). God took from the Gentiles a people for Himself (Acts 15:14), who bore His name (Jer 14:9). The church is where God’s name is honoured (Ex 20:24), the place where God chooses as a dwelling for His name (Deut 12:5, 11) God receives glory in His church (Eph 3:21) – in Jesus Christ. The Lord said, “My church…,” which indicates that the church belongs to Him. 1 Corinthians 1:2 says “the church of God.” Who is God? It is the one who is true. What is the name of God? Jesus. Therefore, “True Jesus Church” is equivalent to “the church of God.” This name makes clear the trueness of God and Jesus, as well as the relationship between the church and God.

7. Some people maintain that Jesus is undoubtedly true and that it is improper for the church to be called “true.” The truth is the church originated from God and Jesus, fills the church (Eph 1:23; 3:19). Christ is the head of the church, and God is the head of Christ (1 Cor 11:3). If the head is true, how can the church be untrue? Since Jesus is the true vine, all the believers who belong to Him are true branches. Those who are untrue will be cut off by God and thrown away, or left to wither. This does not have an impact on the trueness of the vine.

8. The above explanation reveals the correctness and importance of the name “True Jesus Church.” Some may dislike the name because of the word “true”. Yet, this word, should be pursued by everyone who seeks salvation from the Lord.

………………………….

When was True Jesus Church founded?

Although it was not mentioned in the Bible, the apostolic church was true Jesus’ church – the “church of God”. Jesus promised, “And you will truly be my disciples.” From the apostolic times to the second coming of Christ, there is only one bride of the Lamb – the church (Rev 21:2).

This virgin was promised to Christ in the apostolic times (2 Cor 11:2). All believers of all nationalities, past and present, who are called the Lord’s disciples, are of this bride.

The saints who have fallen asleep in Christ are still part of this true church (1 Cor 15:18). Although they no longer live in physical bodies, their souls are still alive. So the ancient saints are still living (Heb 12:23); the soul of those beheaded for the word of God (Mt 10:28; Rev 20:4) call out in a loud voice to the Lord to avenge their blood (Rev 6:9-10; 16:7).
They have not yet received what has been promised, for God has planned, that together with us would they be made perfect (Heb 11:39-40).
They will be caught up together with us (1 Thess 4:17). True Jesus Church is the extension of the union of the Lord’s disciples.

There is only one true church of God (Song 6:9), initiated at the early rain of the Spirit on Pentecost and accomplished during the present latter rain of the Holy Spirit.
The rain revives the apostolic church. Prophet Hosea said, “Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him.
As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hos 6:3)
The sun rises in the east. “The glory of God comes from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with His glory …The glory of the Lord entered the temple through the gate facing east.’ (Ezek 43:2,4) This was prophecy that the true church would appear in the east, like lightning that comes from the east, which is visible even in the west (Mt 24:27).
The apostolic church was established in the East, and so was the True Jesus Church.

Question: A true believer must enter into the path of salvation. How can he do it?

Posted by tjcsg on September 22, 2011

A believer’s affiliation with a particular church or denomination is insignificant. Whether I am a Methodist, a Presbyterian, or a Jehovah’s Witness is not really important. The question a true believer must be concerned with is, “Am I a true follower of Christ?”

- A true follower of Christ would obey the true gospel preached by the true church. If we claim to be a follower of Christ but refuses to accept the truth of salvation, our claim would be false.

- There is only one church, just as there is only one body of Christ (1Cor 12:20; Eph 4:4). We are either members of this body or we are not. Whether or not we are in the true church makes an important difference.

The question that a true believer must be concerned with is “Am I a true follower of Christ and am I in the true church of God?”

It is crucial that we become members of the true body of Christ and a branch of the true vine. There is only one church that preaches the true and complete gospel of salvation and is established by the Holy Spirit and can lead people to Christ completely. So to find the true church is absolutely essential.

There are countless Christians in various denomination all over the world who truly love the Lord and are very fervent. If a true believer must be a member of the only true church to be saved, then will these Christians not be saved?

1. Christians of other denominations who have heard the true and complete gospel proclaimed by the church and yet refuse to accept it cannot be called true Christians; for they do not follow the will of the Heavenly Father, even though they might be working fervently in Jesus’ name (see Mt 7:21-23). They will have to take full responsibility for their rejection of the true gospel (Heb 2:1-4).

2. Indeed there are many others who humbly search for the truth and love the Lord with great fervor but have never heard the complete gospel of salvation. These people are the “other sheep I have which are not of this fold” and the Lord Jesus will bring them so that all true believers would be one flock (Jn 10:16). It is the Lord’s will that all believers become one for the glory of the Heavenly Father (Jn 17:11, 20-23).

3. “Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it” (Isa 2:2-4; Mic 4:1-3; see also Hag 2:6-9). This prophecy points to the glory of the true church in the future and that all true believers will join the true church.

4. As for those Christians who never had a chance to find the true church in their lifetime, it is not up to us to judge if they would be saved. The Lord God will be the ultimate judge. But most importantly, we need to accept the complete gospel and the true church once we have found it.

Most Christians believe in the same Bible, even though they may be members of different denominations. But a true believer must have the correct faith and preach the true gospel.

1. Using the same Bible does not necessarily mean accepting the true gospel. Many Jews during the time of Jesus and the apostles used the same Scripture but refused to accept Christ and his gospel.

2. What makes one denomination different from another is its beliefs. Although all Christians claim to believe and preach the Bible, not all accept the beliefs about salvation. For example, not all Christians agree with the Biblical teaching about baptism, footwashing, Holy Communion, and Holy Spirit, all of which are related directly to our salvation. Only if we obey the truth of salvation can we enter the kingdom of heaven (Mt 7:21-23).

A true believer must obey the complete truth of the bible.

Question: Is it important to find the true church that leads to salvation?

Posted by tjcsg on September 19, 2011

Is it important to find the true church that leads to salvationAll churches that believe in and preach the Lord Jesus Christ can lead people to salvation. A person need not be affiliated with a particular church; he/she may join any church. Is this saying acceptable?

The Bible indicates that there is only one church that can lead people to salvation. There is only one church, just as there is only one body of Christ (1Cor 12:20; Eph 4:4). Other churches that preach a different gospel from that of the one church cannot guide people to salvation since they are not the body of Christ. Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven” (Mt 7:21). Those who do not preach or follow the true gospel of salvation cannot be accepted by God even though they might be “professed Christians.”

The true church that leads people to salvation must have the Holy Spirit. Any “church” that does not have  the Holy Spirit does not belong to Christ (Rom 8:9), and is spiritually dead (Jas 2:26; see also 1Cor 12:13). The baptism it performs has no effect to cleanse sins because the authority to forgive sins is from the Holy Spirit (Jn 20:22-23) and the efficacy of baptism is also witnessed by the Holy Spirit (1Jn 5:6-8).

Since the Lord Jesus is the author of salvation, and not the church, isn’t it fine as long as I believe in the Lord Jesus and follow the correct path to salvation, and I will be saved; Is it fine if I don’t go to church?

The church is the body of Christ (Eph 1:22-23, 4:12, 5:23; Col 1:24). How can a person believe in Christ yet refuse to be a member of the body of Christ? True believers of Jesus Christ are members of the same body, i.e. the church (1Cor 12:12-13; 27-28). There is no doubt that Jesus is the author of salvation, but the Lord Jesus imparts His salvation through His church by sending His workers and giving His church the authority and power to forgive sins (Jn 20:21-23, Mt 16:18-19). Baptism, footwashing, Holy Communion, all of which have to do with believers’ salvation are performed by the church. A person must also pray for the Holy Spirit in the true church. Furthermore, the Lord is the savior of the church as a whole (Eph 5:23-27; see also Acts 20:28). Believers are not saved apart from the church.

While those who have been purchased by the blood of Jesus are already members of the church (Acts 20:28), it is necessary that the members stay in fellowship with one another in the Lord (see Acts 2:42-47). Church services are held for members to worship together (see Mt 18:20; Heb 12:22-24); to encourage one another (Heb 10:24-25; see 1Cor 14:3-4); to pray together (Mt 18:19-20, see Acts 1:14; 2:42; 4:23-31; 12:5,12); to edify one another with spiritual gifts (Eph 4:11-12,16), so that the body of Christ may be built up to become the dwelling of God’s Spirit (Eph 2:19-22) and be prepared as the bride of Christ (Rev 19:7; 21:2).

Knowing the importance to being in the body of Christ, i.e. His church, and also the importance of being in the church that is able to lead us to salvation, let us take our faith seriously and walk on the correct way He has shown us from the bible.
