What is the meaning of Holy Spirit Manifestations?
The Bible uses several manifestations to signify the Holy Spirit. These signs are not the Holy Spirit Himself. They are references to the work of the Holy Spirit on us. Below are some Holy Spirit Manifestations recorded in the Holy Bible..
Wind – moving and renewing (Jn 3:8; Acts 2:2; Ezek 37:9-10).
“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
“Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, “Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.””
Fire – warmth and refinement (Acts 2:3; Is 4:4).
“Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.”
“When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the blood of Jerusalem fromher midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning.”
Water – life and abundance (Jn 7:38-39; 4:14).
“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. ” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Oil – joy and light (Heb 1:9; Mt 25:4).
“but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.”
“You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”
Rain – anointment and justice (Mt 5:45; Zech 10:1; Hos 6:3; 10:12).
“that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
“Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone.”
“Let us know, let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth.”
“Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.”
Dove – goodness and peace (Mt 3:16; 10:16; Gen 8:11).
“When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.”
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”
“Then the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth.”
Seal – real and firm (Eph 1:13; 4:30; 2 Tim 2:19).
“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.”
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
“Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
Deposit – comfort and reliability (Eph 1:14; 2 Cor 1:22; 5:5-6).
“who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”
“who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”
“Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.”
Sword – sharpness and sternness (Eph 6:17; Gen 3:24; Heb 4:12)
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”
“So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.”
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
In comparison, is there any difference between the Holy Spirit Manifestations and Evidence of Receiving the Holy Spirit?
