Question: Who Is The Holy Spirit And What Does He Do?

Who Is The Holy Spirit And What Does He Do For Jesus?

Who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is God and God is Spirit (Jn 4:24).
“The Lord is the Spirit.” (2 Cor 3:17).

What does He do for Jesus?

  • The Holy Spirit testifies Jesus (Jn 15:26-27; Acts 5:32; Heb 10:15) and glorifies Him (Jn 16:14).
  • The Holy Spirit comes from Jesus and makes known to the disciples (Jn 16:15), reminding them of what Jesus said to them (Jn 15:26).
  • The Holy Spirit represents Jesus (Jn 13:20; 14:17-18).

Who Is The Holy Spirit And What Does He Do That Man Should Regard Him as God?

Some people regard the Holy Spirit as the breath of God, taking it as the nature of the Spirit and neglecting His person and divine nature. This is not correct.

Who is the Holy Spirit
that –

  • searches all things (1 Cor 2:10);
  • has his own will (Rom 8:27; 1 Cor 12:11);
  • is loving (Rom 15:30);
  • gives grace (Heb 10:20);
  • will be grieved (Eph 4:30);
  • instructs (Neh 9:20);
  • can speak (Acts 8:29);
  • restrains (Acts 16:6-7);
  • commands (Acts 13:2, 4; Is 48:16);
  • establishes positions (Acts 20:28);
  • testifies (1 Jn 5:7);
  • reveals (Eph 3:5).

The Holy Spirit is the God who has a divine nature and power.

What Does He Do – He has full control and authority over all things and all man. His divine power is not to be offended or blasphemed.

Who Is The Holy Spirit and What Does He Do That Man Can Experience Him?

The Holy Spirit is formless and shapeless; Jesus said that He cannot be seen (Jn 14:17).

Thanks to the Lord Jesus that He shows us “who is the Holy Spirit” and that we can experience the power of the Holy Spirit.
Then, what does He do to convince you and I on this experience?

  • He said, “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Holy Spirit.” (Jn 3:8).
  • He breathed on His disciples and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit!” (Jn 20:22).

This proves that the descent of the Holy Spirit can be felt.

When the Holy Spirit is poured out on us liberally (Tit 3:6), we will feel it.
