God’s Grace

Chin Sin Choo – Singapore

In the name of the Lord Jesus I bear testimony:

Hallelujah! I thank God for giving me an excellent opportunity to praise His name. My name is Chin Sin Choo, and I am 82 years old. God has always looked after my family and I, and I would like to share His wonderful grace with you.

By the grace of God, I have always been in the pink of health. However, due to old age, I started to experience pains in both feet 3 months ago. This caused me much agony.

After the Holy Communion in July, there was an announcement for us to receive the laying of hands in front of the church hall. I initially wanted to go and pray for healing but soon started to have second thoughts. I questioned the need to go to the front since I was seated at the second row, which was not that far from the front anyway. I started to doubt (which I realised, was the work of Satan). At that instant, I made a resolution that I should go to the front with humility and make my request known.

In that prayer, I cried out to God to heal my legs and not to forsake me, and if I had done anything wrong, to forgive me. I prayed with much sadness because I was worried that God would abandon me! Nevertheless, I understood that God had His time.

The Lord loves me and constantly takes care of me. I was worried that God would forsake me when my feet were aching for more than 3 months. Therefore, I came in front of God weeping and praying. God indeed has His time and He wiped my tears for me. After the prayer, my feet stopped aching. Praise the Lord!

The second incident which showed me God’s grace happened two years ago. My youngest daughter, Yu Ting, brought me to Australia for a tour. After visiting a crocodile farm, I walked up some steps, which were wide and should not have been a problem. However, before I could take my first step, I felt my body leaning backwards. I was conscious of that and shouted “Hallelujah”! I knew I would fall badly and tried my best to use my hands to support my body and at the same time lift my head so that it would not hit the ground. Unfortunately, I was too heavy and fell to the ground. My head hit the ground, and when I stood up, I noticed abrasions on my right hand. There were also slight bruises the size of half a table tennis ball on my forehead. Apart from that, I was fine. Among the people in the crowd, there was a caring Australian lady who asked me in English, “Are you OK? What is your name?” After answering her, she asked me to count 1 to 10 twice. Then the lady advised me to go to the hospital immediately if I did not get better. Thank God – I did not require a doctor as I sustained only superficial wounds and the bruise on my forehead subsided two days later.

The third time God showed me His abundant love was in March or April last year. One night I experienced a sudden abdominal pain which started to worsen. My eldest daughter, Pek Een brought me to see a doctor. After examination, the doctor concluded that it was gallstones and that I needed to be brought to the hospital immediately. I told the doctor that my gall bladder had been removed more than a decade ago but the doctor replied that it was possible that the gallstones had grown on my bile duct. My youngest son, Khai Min, drove me to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. After examination by the doctor, I was diagnosed to have gallstones and needed to be admitted into the hospital.

After 3 to 4 days later, as I was about to be pushed into the surgical room, I had a pre-surgery X-ray. However, the scan result could not detect any gallstones and I was allowed to be discharged! Thank God for showing His immense love once again!

For a few Sabbaths after my discharge, my second daughter, Pek Chin, accompanied me to church. One Sabbath, I made a request for God to sit beside me in the car as I did not dare to drive to church by myself. You might think that I went too far in making this request. However, the Lord acceded to my request! With confidence, I drove the car to Pek Chin’s house (about 6km) to pick her children and her to church (about 5km), praying, singing hymns and praising the Lord along the way.

Brothers and Sister, we believe in the True God, so we should always remember that we will be saved if we have faith! From all these bountiful blessings of God, it brings to my mind this Bible passage

Philippians 4:6-7: “Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

May all glory and praise be given to the holy name of the Lord. Amen!
